United we are unstoppable - Akshat Rathi

Day 0

My father gave me this book that I will be talking about for the next month on this blog- UNITED WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE, and told me it would change my life. Indeed reading it did.

United we are unstoppable is one book covering 60 different stories of people- youth, teenagers trying to bring about a change in the world; trying to save this planet.

we often tend to forget that unlike what we see in Science fictions we don't really have another planet to call home, and this one doesn't have a lot of time left all thanks to mankind.

while reading this book I felt inspired, motivated- and I recommend you read it too because as I flipped through the pages I found myself asking myself  questions I didn't think I would:

what is purpose of our existence?

why are we here?

On page number 11 the book talks about a boy; Aditya Mukarji - A 16 year old Indian who launched a campaign  #refuseifyoucan'treuse for single use plastics after watching a horrifying video of a straw being extracted from a turtle's nostril.

A straw we created, and we used, to sip some liquid (something that we can very much do without a straw) taking the life of an innocent creature.

Eye opening isn't it? what we've done.

Where we've come.

On page 14 we get to know Htet Myet Min Tun  - An 18 year old from Myanmar worried sick that Cyclones like Cyclone Nargis will ruin the livelihoods of the people of her country.

people who contribute the least to such natural disasters

"climate change is now violating human rights" she says, and she's not wrong.

Every time we choose to not carpool or keep the air conditioner running even when we aren't in the room we are probably creating another cyclone Nargis causing death, destruction, immigration and getting one step closer to a global catastrophe.

THINK.
STOP.
THINK AGAIN.

what are we doing?

"Give climate change the importance it deserves"

yes, please do for our lives depend on it.

Never before did the quote "we haven't inherited planet earth from our forefathers, we have borrowed it from our future generation" spoke to me the way it is doing now because our actions so far have determined what life innocents on the other side of the planet are leading.

And our actions today will determine what life our children will lead tomorrow.

"climate change should not divide us, it should unite us for success in curbing climate change will be the greatest success of mankind."

TOGETHER WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE.

The climate countdown began in Manhattan not so long ago,  7 years is what we have to turn back the clock and rectify our mistakes.

If you are taking a step towards climate change, be it reducing, refusing, reusing, recycling, upcycling or any other feel free to share. inspire. and motivate.

THE WORLD NEEDS YOU, IT NEEDS US. MORE THAN EVER.
